A Beginner’s Guide to Baccarat Banque

An Introduction to Baccarat Banque

Baccarat Banque is one of the three main variants of the game that is popular with casino players. The game is primarily played in European casinos and one of the reasons for its popularity is that the casino will always hold the bank. In land casinos, the game is played at a special configuration of two conjoined tables that can seat between 10 and 16 players, and for this reason, the game is sometimes known as Baccarat à Deux Tableaux or Baccarat on Two Tables.

This guide will teach you all you need to know to get started playing Baccarat Banque. We will take you through the rules as well as some basic strategy tips. After reading it, we are sure that you will be able to start enjoying the game in no time at all.

How to Play Baccarat Banque

One of the first things to know about Baccarat Banque is that it is played with three decks of cards rather than the six or eight cards used in Punto Banco and Chemin de Fer. The game has very similar rules to Chemin de Fer but there is one very important difference. In Chemin de Fer, the role of the Banker is passed to another player whenever the Banker loses. However, in Baccarat Banque, the person who has placed the largest bet will remain as Banker until the shoe has been fully played or until their bankroll has runout and they cannot place any more bets. The player with the highest bet becomes Banker and sits opposite the dealer, once all players are seated, the round begins.

To begin with, the dealer will shuffle the cards between each round. The players on the left and right of the dealer then shuffle the cards again. The final person to shuffle the cards is the Banker. Remember, in this version of the game the role is purely symbolic as the casino always holds the bank.

The banker then chooses a player to cut the cards with a cut card. The dealer then deals a card to the Player position on the right table, a card to the Player position on the left table, and a card to the Banker position. Players can then place their bets on Player or Banker hands. The Banker can only bet on the Banker position while the players can only bet on the Player positions. It is possible for players to bet on both Player positions. However, there is no Tie bet in this version of Baccarat. The player who has placed the largest bet on each side will be in charge of that side’s hand.

A second card is then dealt to each hand position in the same order as the first cards were dealt. The players in charge and the Banker can then check the hands and if any of the hands are a natural (i.e. worth 9 or 8), then the cards are turned face-up and compared. A 9 will beat an 8.

If neither of the hands are a natural, then the Player and the Banker can choose whether to draw an additional card. First, the two Player hands make their decisions and then the Banker decides based upon the Player cards. Finally, all the hands are compared and players are paid out for winning hands. If the Banker position wins, then the player in that position remains at Banker until they lose, then the role moves to the next person. As with most versions of the game, a winning Player bet pays even money while winning Banker bet pays even money minus a 5% commission for the casino.

The game uses the standard Baccarat card values; the number cards are worth their face values and picture cards are worth 10. If a hand has a total of 10 or above, then 10 is subtracted from the total; for example, a hand of 15 is worth 5.

Furthermore, as with the other main versions of Baccarat, there are some rules governing how the drawing of a third card works. In general, players will normally draw a third card if the hand is worth 0 to 4 and then stand on a 6 or 7. If the hand is worth 5 then it is up to the player. The person in the Banker position needs to consider the two player hands and it is normal for them to focus on the hand that has the higher bet.

In terms of betting, the total of the players’ bets cannot not be greater than the total of the Banker. For example, if the Banker has placed a bet of €100, then the total of all the players’ bets at both tables cannot be more than €100. That is why this is a game often played by high rollers. However, if all players agree to a low stakes game then it can be suitable for any budget.

If the Banker loses a round then they are not obligated to give up the role. However, other players may make a challenge for the role at any given time. The player who wants to become banker says something similar to “Go Bank” and places a bet equal to the Banker’s bet. The bet can be placed on one of the Player hands or split between both. If the player wins on one of the hand then they will become Banker for the remainder of the shoe. Players can say “Go Bank” up to three times and if they are not successful, then they cannot try to claim the role again.

Baccarat Banque Strategy

There is a very basic strategy that can be used for this game; however, ultimately it is a game of luck and the strategy will not significantly improve the odds in your favour.

The first thing to remember as a player is to hit on a total of 0 to 4 and to stand on a 6 or 7. If you are playing as Banker then you should hit on a total of 0 to 5 and stand on 7.

However, if you are playing as the Banker and the player takes a third card, then there is a recommended strategy that can be seen in the table below:

There are only four situations that depend on the player action: If the Player has a total of 5, if the Banker has 6 and the Player stood, if the Banker has 5 and the Player hit and got 4, and if the Banker has 3 and the Player hit and got 9.

In these situations, it is best for the Banker to copy the Player. Players will often opt to change when they hit or stand on 5 in order to confuse the Banker and give themselves a better chance of winning the hand.

Baccarat Banque Tips

As explained above, there is not much you can do to try to improve your chances of winning at Baccarat Banque. However, there are certain tips you can follow that will go a long way towards ensuring that you are always having fun.

To begin with, always practise proper bankroll management. Be careful about the size of bets that you are placing. It is always better to assume that you will hit a losing streak and place your bets accordingly. These means that you need to make sure that you are betting a sustainable amount per hand that will allow you to play for as long as you wish. Furthermore, if you do hit a winning streak, then be careful not to become over excited. Don’t start placing huge bets and risking losing everything in just a few minutes, as your luck can turn at any time.

Many people will advocate always trying to play as the Banker. This is because statistically the Banker position has a slightly better chance of winning, which is why casinos take a 5% commission on Banker bets. While this may sound off putting, over time, it will help to reduce your losses.

Ultimate, Baccarat Banque can be a huge amount of fun and it is a very exciting game. As long as you stick to the basic principle of not betting what you cannot afford to lose, then you should be able to have many hours of fun at the tables, and with a bit of luck, you may even come away a big winner.
