The base game has a random reel modifier feature. Police lights will flash eventually selecting red or blue. If red, using the initial stake at each spin, Bert the Robber needs to cross below the reels from the leftmost reel, using traffic lights as guidance. If Bert gets across without being caught then enough bonus symbols will fill the reels to activate a bonus feature. If the police light is blue then a random number of mystery symbols will land in the reels and explode into the same symbol, improving chances of a win.
Landing three or more scatters will give you a choice of the chase or the free spins features. The chase is a board game with two die where Bert is chased by the policeman. For each bonus symbol originally landed, Bert gets to roll the dice and get a head start. Eventually, the policeman wakes and gives chase.
